Write the RULES!

We're celebrating some kind of new politics system in OmegaDev or whatever it is called. We will write the rules that will be respected in OmegaDev from now on... whatever just discuss here




Current Rules:
No spamming: Posts without meaning and/or repeated posts are considered spam. Being off-topic is also considered meaningless. For the sake of the topic keep it clean and understandable. In the case of double/triple posting, it is ok only if there is strong reason for such (updates, news about game project) or if it was an internet connection issue (if the multiple posts have the same content)

No necroposting: No posting in topics that are inactive for more than one/two months, you may create a separate topic instead.

Respect: No picking on users. Discussions are perfectly fine even with authorities. Everyone got his/her own opinion, however, pointless flame wars are considered a serious act against the user.

Don't steal cookies: Please, don't ask.

All members have rights for their own opinion, for protecting their morale, etc... even Dezz.

Maybe basic rules like stay on topic ( maybe you can stay off-topic for like 3-4 posts idk)

Necroposting is reviving a dead topic by posting on it after it hasnt had a post in over x amount of time.

I say Enslaving anyone, or dis-respecting anyone who has a P at the start of there name.

Necroposting is posting in a topic that hasn't been posted in for a long time (generally a month)

I think the obvious ones are often too generalised. No necroposts should become No irrelevant necroposts, but then no irrelevent posts at all really. So no posts in an inactive topic that the OP isn't around for.

But when it comes to inter-member rules, I think members should have rights, and the only rule should be to not infringe the rights of another member.

Let's not forget we should explain all the rules.

Treat everyone with respect: No picking on users, if you consider a user's action/post innapropriate, say so politely.
Stay on topic: If a thread's about videogames, don't comment about that ice cream you ate last Thursday.
Respect the authorities: If you disagree with a mod or admin, talk to him/her via PM. If that doesn't solve the problem, contact Omegas. Don't imply his/her mother is a prostitute or it'll only aggravate the situation.

IMP1 is right, but I think it should be 2 months.

Oh, and double post only counts if the posts have different content. Sometimes is the connection's fault, like Dezz's case.

Also the most basic of them all: Don't give your password to anyone at all. They might block and delete your posts and get you banned.

I think if people were on the IRC more, they'd post off-topic less. But I agree people need to post off-topic less.

Wht about the basic "Moderators and admins will never ask for your password. Report anyone that does that."

Oh and don't use nasty sigs or Avatars I remember I had my game website and they shut it down cuz some idiot had I'm sorry for saying this: Blue Waffle as their Avatar

I'd go for something like no impersonating mods or admins, as the mods and admins here wouldn't do anything, and there's not many of them.
