Mapping Shops
Do you guys think we should be allowed mapping shops? On a large scale forum like VXnet, it's not very practical, but on a smaller scale like us, I don't see what would be wrong with it. Are they technically allowed? They are helpful to people that are not good at mapping, and know they're not good at mapping, or for people that just are too lazy, or a billion other things. I'm curious as to what you guys think.

Well requesting maps is nothing like requesting scripts or music. Mapping is easily self-taught by creativity of the mind. Scripting, Composing, and spriting takes a lot of time and hard work to figure out.
Not that I think this is a bad idea, but people need to be able to fend for themselves or else (as I have been taught) they will never learn.

It's not needed, but if anything, just make one in graphic shops. That's all it is anyways, right? Graphics?

I wouldn't say mapping is graphics, as it's more of an in-game thing rather than something you make with a graphical editor/maker(unless you parallax of course).

Mapping Shops lead to Eventing Shops which in turn lead to Getting-other-people-to-make-your-game-for-you-Shops.
Mapping is a necessary part of RMVX. If someone needs (help with) a map, then they post what they have so far and can get constructive critisism, but making maps for people is a bad idea. Ditto events.

I'm glad the community is expressing it's ideas and stuff, but Mapping Shops are a big no.
Mapping is all about game design and knowing how a player thinks. If you can't do that, then maybe you shouldn't be making games anyway.

I suppose all of that makes sense. Then what would you guys think of a parallax-map-shop? Like they could build the map, and someone else could make it pretty.

Parallax maps, depending on the level of artistic-ness goign into them, would be okay with me.

Yeah. Like, a serious parallax map, not just cutting and pasting. Like, smoothing autotiles, etc.
