The script is about sharping weapon/ makke the weapon more powerful.
If You play Suikoden, you can make your weapon more Sharp in Blacksmith.
If You play RO (Ragnarok Online), you can make your weapon more sharp with the emperium & oridecon.
If you play Seal Online, you can refine your weapon with Crystal, Ruby, & Diamond.

If you play Final Fantasy 13, you can upgrade weapons with components.
The path happens like this:
Battle
Enemy drops item
Go to Save point
Select upgrade
Pick wepon
pick item
Weapon gains EXP
If it gains lvl 10 it will become another weapon, lose some stats but also become lvl 1 again, and so on.
